12/17/09- Paula's Eating/Exercise Journal: Thursday

There is a dieting theory called MUFA (monosaturated fatty acids).  They claim that by eating nuts and olive oil daily, it helps reduce belly fat ( I don't believe that belly fat can be 'removed' with exercise and a clean eating diet...not just by adding MAFA items).  I know almonds and some olive oil provide heart-healthy fats into your diet.

The flavor of nuts are improved by toasting the,.  This can be done in the oven ( 400 degree's for 5-6 minutes), or in a pan on the stove top ( spray the pan with buttered flavored Pam in your skillet first).  When  toasting either way, stay close to the stove.  Nuts can burn quite quickly.

For more information on the MUFA theory, find tips at www.flatbellydiet.com/pocketguide .
